Orient Mako
Launched in the mid-2000s, the Orient Mako established itself as one of the most accessible genuine dive watches on the market. It was designed from the outset as a tool watch, meeting the 200-metre water resistance standard that serious divers require, and it has since grown into a full family of sport and sport-adjacent models that retain that same practical character.
Across the range, stainless steel cases pair with unidirectional rotating bezels, screw-down case backs, and sapphire crystal. In-house automatic movements with hand-winding and hacking seconds are the norm, though solar-powered chronograph variants now sit alongside them. Dials prioritise legibility, with luminescent hands and baton indices. The Mako 40 offers a more compact case for those who prefer a slightly trimmer fit, while GMT versions add a second time zone hand. It is a range built for practical use rather than display.
